Vital Remains
Vital Remains is a death metal band from Providence, Rhode Island consists of Tony Lazaro, who has been the only permanent member of the band. The band formed in 1989 influenced by bands like Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Sodom and Destruction. Originally comprised of members Paul Flynn and Tony Lazaro on guitars, Jeff Gruslin vocalist, bassist Tom Dupont Supkow and Chris on drums, the band had been on several lineup changes (as well as record labels) over the years, but has not gotten in way of issuing albums on a regular basis. A couple of demos (Reduced to Ashes and Excruciating Pain) led them a contract with French label Thrash Records, who issued The Black Mass in 1991.
Vital Remains Lyrics are almost entirely anti-religious, with influences on Satanism, Revelation, and highly Blasphemous issues.
A couple of shots that continued to Peaceville Records, Let Us Pray and Into Cold Darkness, before jumping to another French label, Osmose Productions, which recorded Forever Underground and Dawn of the Apocalypse. From Dawn of the Apocalypse, the vowels were made by Glen Benton (Deicide leader) in 2001, although the lyrics are written by the rest of the band. Dechristianize was launched in 2003 to much acclaim by the critics. The band's latest album, released 2007, Icons of Evil. The first live DVD called Live Evil Death was released in Europe on July 9, and the United States on July 31 by the Polish label Metal Mind Productions.
