Valladolid .- The government team of the City of Cigales (Valladolid) has decided to withdraw the Israeli brand of bottled water Eden Springs Ltd of City Council, thereby adding to the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. The withdrawal of water bottles Eden occurs through a major campaign that has included local petition and information and awareness campaigns.
Cigales is the second consistory of the province in addition to the international campaign for Boycott, Sanctions Desiversiones and the State of Israel, after Villanueva de Duero, whose City Council withdrew its buildings Eden water and offices last July. Eden Springs Ltd. is a company that benefits directly from the illegal exploitation of resources hídrics Syrian Golan, occupied illegally by Israel since 1967 and whose annexation is not recognized by any country in the world. Eden Springs Ltd. bottles, sells and distributes water from an illegally occupied territory, thus violating international law, the United Nations resolutions and the Geneva Convention.
From Palestine Solidarity Platform of Valladolid both the team want to thank Governor of Municipality of Villanueva de Duero and staff teaching and working as the Director of the School of Nursing and support their commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people and support that his decision is the international campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. We also ask the city's population, unions, companies, institutions and governments to join this campaign. These
boycott action against the State of Israel are produced on the fifth anniversary of the BDS campaign. On July 9, 2005, 171 civil society organizations called on Palestinian international community to start this campaign.
The objective of this initiative is the isolation of Israel to force it to halt its aggression against the Palestinian people, torture and systematic murder-Inclusive and comply with international law and human rights. The BDS campaign is inspired by the international embargo that was carried out against apartheid in South Africa was instrumental in the downfall of the apartheid regime.
In this fifth anniversary, organizations, institutions and individuals working in support of the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and self-determination have signed the manifesto 'Yesterday South Africa, Palestine today' (attached in this email). This document calls upon civil society as a whole to implement the entire English territory BDS Campaign, as is already being done around the world.
The manifesto also recalls the various aspects of the campaign, such as the boycott institutional, commercial, cultural and sports and academics.
In Valladolid, the Platform for Solidarity with Palestine has continued during this year and last to give an intense to know the BDS campaign, highlighting the conference on academic and cultural boycott was held at the four public universities in the region. This was the first time that the four universities hosting a Community initiative of its kind. Also, economic and cultural manifestations of Israel in the city have been timely sign of rejection, as did the presence of a display of Israel in the Inland Tourism Fair or action Intur Noa, Mayumaná or Jerusalem Quartet.
