The campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against the State of Israel from Valladolid
The July 9, 2010 marks five years since 171 civil society organizations did Palestinian Appeals to the international community to join in the campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions against the State of Israel.

Gradually, the work done during this academic year 2009-2010 begins to bear fruit and already held the first concrete actions boycott, as termination of contracts with the Israeli company Eden bottled water by School of Nursing at the University of Valladolid or the City of Villanueva de Duero. The following article reviews, briefly, the path followed to achieve these first results.

The City of Eden Villanueva de Duero withdraws its dependencies
The government team of the Municipality of Villanueva de Duero (Valladolid) has decided to withdraw the Israeli brand of bottled water Eden Springs Ltd of City Council, thereby adding to the Campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. The municipality of Valladolid has taken this position coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the BDS campaign.
This is the second action to boycott Eden in Valladolid in recent weeks. Last June, the employees of the School of Nursing at the University of Valladolid asked the department to the center that water vending machines cease to be supplied by the Israeli company, a request that the Department agreed.
Eden Springs Ltd. is a company that benefits directly from the illegal exploitation of water resources in the Syrian Golan Heights, territory illegally occupied by Israel since 1967 and whose annexation is not recognized by any country in the world. Human rights Golani population are directly violated by the activity of this company. Eden Springs Ltd. bottles, markets and distributes the water of an illegally occupied territory, thus violating international law, the United Nations resolutions and the Geneva Convention.
From the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine Valladolid want to thank both the Governance Team of the Municipality of Villanueva de Duero and staff teaching and working as the Director of the School of Nursing, their commitment and support to the Palestinian cause and the support his decision is the international campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. We also ask the city's population, unions, companies, institutions and governments to join this campaign. These
boycott action against the State of Israel are produced on the fifth anniversary of the BDS campaign. On July 9, 2005, 171 society organizations Palestinian civil appealed to the international community to start this campaign.
The objective of this initiative is the isolation of Israel to force it to halt its aggression against the Palestinian people, torture and systematic murder-Inclusive and comply with international law and human rights. The BDS campaign is inspired by the international embargo that was carried out against apartheid in South Africa was instrumental in the downfall of the apartheid regime.
The government team makes this decision coincided with the fifth anniversary of the Campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. This fifth
anniversary, organizations, institutions and individuals working in support of the Palestinian people and their struggle for freedom and self-determination have signed the manifesto 'Yesterday South Africa, Palestine today. " This document calls upon civil society as a whole to implement in the English territory BDS Campaign, as is already being done around the world.
The manifesto also recalls the various aspects of the campaign, such as the boycott institutional, commercial, cultural and sports and academics.
In Valladolid, the Platform for Solidarity with Palestine this year has remained very active to raise awareness of BDS, highlighting the conference on academic and cultural boycott was held at the four public universities in the region. This was the first time that the four universities hosting a Community initiative of its kind. Also, economic and cultural manifestations of Israel in the city have been timely sign of rejection, as did the presence of a display of Israel in the Inland Tourism Fair or action Intur Noa, Mayumaná or Jerusalem Quartet.
